W8 : The new use of Facebook.

Facebook has changed our way to use Internet. How could I admit that ? Just because it is now one of the most influent website. As I said in my previous post, this is a portal to the rest of the World Wide Web. We don’t have to search information, Facebook brings it for us. Something else makes Facebook special : they try to improve each applications within the website to generate a better communication between users. Of course, for Facebook it is always a great opportunity to pick up data from their users and use it. This idea reveals a positive and negative side. What I am trying to say is with these information, it helps them to ameliorate the social network. But, also with all these data serve them to deal profiles, information with others companies. So, what do we have to believe when they tell us that we can download our own information in a zip file (http://mashable.com/2010/10/06/facebook-data-portability-2). Are they trying to make us believe that we are safe on Facebook. This previous link shows a video, and within it they affirm that with this new option, we have the total control of our personal data. Recently, Facebook users will have the chance to navigate and communicate differently because Facebook changed the Group application. Once again, this is a new use of this website. All these changes and improvements make me think to a strategy perfectly controlled. It seems like fostering of users loyalty. They have to do it to keep their users, and I can say that it works. For us, we have to handle this new way of communication and contact our friends, but we get use to it. The main idea of this new project is involving each participant of the group and make them to build something all together. Facebook is right again, this is all about us.

W7 : Facebook / The intelligent social network

The writer, Adam Rifkin, of this first article predicts that Facebook will be, in five years, bigger than Google is today. This is a pretty tough prediction knowing that both of these two websites are the most popular and influent for the World Wide Web sphere. I agree that it is not an equal comparison because one of it is a search engine and the other one is a social network. But, after I read this article, I do believe that it could be possible, even if the idea seems insane. The author is very persuasive with his explanation. His major argument concerns the money, and he divided his description in different parts such as Games, Inbox, Facebook Credits, Photos, and other applications from the Facebook website.

I am a Facebook user. Ok, I admit it, I am a Facebook addict ! This is like a virtual drug, I am constantly connected to this network and if I am not in front of my computer, I still have my Iphone. I need to see what happened, to check what I missed. Just for saying that most of these applications that Adam Rifkin described in this article, I use it. This is why I can confirm it one day this affirmation will be possible. Everything is well thought, only with this website, we mostly have access to rest of Internet. Users don’t look after information anymore, they are coming to us now. Facebook has created events, special pages, a system to share photos, games, and so on. Also, he is talking about the Amazon commerce / Paypal, and says that they had great benefits for the year 2010. If one day Facebook acquires it, the revenue could grow up annually to 12 billion $. This is why I said it is an intelligent social network, because Facebook could gain every battle where Google failed.
